Good nutrition and learning go hand in hand.
The Nutrition Services department is made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students' health, well-being, and ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices.
Meals, foods, and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet their health and nutrition needs of students.

Summer EBT - SUN Bucks
Ohio is participating in Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (Summer EBT), also known as SUN Bucks, for the summer of 2025. Even though your child’s school provides no-cost meals to all students, each child must be approved for free or reduced-price meals this school year to receive Summer EBT. If your household income is less than 185% of the federal poverty level, school-aged children in your household may be eligible.
Participating households will receive a one-time $120 payment for each eligible child on a benefit card you will receive in the mail. You can use the money to buy food during the summer at grocery stores, farmers markets, and other authorized retailers. If you receive more than $120 per eligible child in your household, do not use the benefits. Contact the SEBT Helpline at 1-866-244-0071, option 1, as soon as possible to confirm or correct the error.
If you think your children are eligible, you can apply for Summer EBT using the application at sebt.ohio.gov. Be sure to apply by August 15 to get benefits this summer. If you have questions about the application, contact the Summer EBT Helpline at 1-866-244-0071, option 1.
You will need to provide your child’s name, school, date of birth, along with the names of other people in your household, your household income, and the address where you would like the benefit card to be sent. You will not need to provide any documentation to apply, but you could be asked to verify your information. Receiving Summer EBT will not affect children’s or families’ immigration status.
In addition to Summer EBT, children under 18 years of age in your household can also receive free meals during the summer at a summer meal site. You can call 1-866-3-HUNGRY or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (or text 914-342-7744 with the keyword “summer meals”) to find the location closest to you.

*For the 2024/2025 school year, the State of Ohio will be paying the reduced-price lunch of $.40 and reduced-price breakfast of $.30. Families who qualify for reduced meals will not need to pay for breakfast or lunch meals.
Free and Reduced Meal Applications
You are highly encouraged to fill out the free and reduced meal application for your family. Applications are now available along with pricing and payment options. The USDA will continue to update us throughout the school year, and we will notify you of new policies as they become available. Families who fill out these forms are eligible for school fee waivers as well as helping to provide essential funding for our schools. Click under Application Resources for Application Forms.
Meal Applications
Free and Reduced Price Meals are available to families who believe they may qualify. If your family chooses to apply please complete a "Free and Reduced Meal Price Application Form." The forms can be obtained and returned (completed) to any school office. You will be notified by mail of your child's status. Until notification, you must provide your child with lunch or lunch money.

Find Summer Meals in Your Community
Nutritious free meals are available for children and teens 18 and younger at many locations throughout the nation throughout the summer while school is out of session. Click this link to find a site near you.
Good nutrition is essential for learning in school. Continuing healthy eating habits is also important during the long hot summer months. Eating nutritious foods helps ensure students retain their hard-learned knowledge… and to help them to keep right on learning throughout the summer. For many of these children, summer vacation can bring the temptation of eating empty-calorie snacks and foods that are high in sugar, fats, and sodium. And for many others, summer exposes students to an increased risk of hunger and developmental decline. Make seasonal fruits and vegetables a high priority for your snacks, meals, and anytime.
Summertime is a time to play hard...but it is also a time to remember to eat right. Make sure good nutrition remains a priority all summer long, and students will return to school in the Fall healthy, sharp, and ready to learn.
Refunds
Senior Refund/Donation of Lunch Account:
Your graduating senior may have a balance in his/her lunch account. You may choose to have these funds:
1. transfer funds to the account of another household member
2. refunded to you
3. used to assist families in need.
If there is no response by June 15th, your child's lunch account balance will be used to assist those in need within the Marysville School District.

Pre-Payment Options
We encourage you to take advantage of the options to prepay your student's meal accounts. Prepaid meal accounts help the lunch lines go faster and gives the students more time to eat, relax, and play. It also gives you peace of mind of not having to worry about looking for lunch money every day or worrying that it might get lost or stolen.

To register your account, click "create an account" and enter your name, email address, and set up a password.
If you would like to receive low balance alerts, click the box at the bottom "send low balance alerts to me."
Add students to your account by entering the last name of your student(s) and PIN number(s).

You can always bring money personally or send it with your student. Please place it in an envelope marked clearly with your student's name, their ID #, their teacher's name, the $ amount and the check #. Turn in prepaid deposits to the cafeteria cashier(s) or school office.

Wellness Policy
Our District has developed a Wellness Policy that is focused on improving the health of students. The policy was developed by the health and wellness advisory council that includes teachers, parents, administrators, and the district nurse.
Sharing the Message of Wellness
One of our goals is to share the message of nutrition and wellness via our department's Web site that emphasizes the importance of nutrition AND fitness. Our site provides information on the nutrition and fitness for teachers, parents, and students, as well as, a variety of learning tools.

Public Notice
Marysville Exempted Village Schools announced its 2025-2026 program year policy for free and reduced price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals or milk served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast, After School Care Snack, or Special Milk Programs. Each school office and the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party. The State of Ohio Budget for the school year 2025-2026 includes funding to cover the cost of reduced meals for breakfast and lunch. This provision allows schools to provide no-cost meals to reduced-price meal-eligible students.
The Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines will be used to determine eligibility. Children from families whose annual income is at or below the federal guidelines are eligible for free and reduced-price meals or free milk if the school participates in the Special Milk Program.
Application forms are distributed to all homes in a letter to parents or guardians. To apply for free and reduced-price benefits, households should complete an application and return it to the school. Additional copies are available at the principal’s office in each school. A complete application is required. Households that currently receive Special Nutrition Assistance Program Benefits (SNAP, formally known as food stamps) or Ohio Works First (OWF) funds for a child must provide the child’s name, the SNAP or OWF case number, and the signature of an adult household member on the application. Households that do not receive SNAP or OWF funds must provide the names of all household members, the last four digits of the Social Security Number of the adult signing the application or state “none” if the adult does not have a Social Security Number, the amount and source of income received by each household member (state the monthly income) and the signature of an adult household member. If any of this information is missing, the school cannot process the application.

FREE HEALTH CARE: Families with children eligible for school meals may be eligible for free health care coverage through Medicaid and/or Ohio’s Healthy Start & Healthy Families programs. These programs include coverage for doctor visits, immunizations, physicals, prescriptions, dental, vision, mental health, substance abuse, and more. Please call 1-800-324-8680 for more information or to request an application. Information can also be found on the web at http://jfs.ohio.gov/ohp/consumers/familychild.stm. Anyone who has an Ohio Medicaid card is already receiving these services.
The information provided on the application is confidential and will only be used for the purpose of determining eligibility and may be verified at any time during the school year by school or other program official. To discourage the possibility of misrepresentation, the application forms contain a statement above the space for signature certifying that all information furnished is true and correct. Applications are being made in connection with the receipt of federal funds. Schools or other officials may check the information on the application at any time during the school year. Deliberate misrepresentation of information may subject the applicant to prosecution under applicable state and federal laws. Households will be notified of the approval or denial of benefits.
Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits regardless of the household’s income. If a family has foster children living with them and wishes to apply for such meals or milk for them, contact the school for more information. Under the provisions of the policy, Lorie Pennington, Director of Food & Nutrition, will review applications and determine eligibility. If a parent or guardian disagrees with the decision on the application or the result of verification, the decision may be discussed with the determining official on an informal basis. If a formal appeal is desired, the household has the right to a fair hearing. A fair hearing can be requested either orally or in writing from:

Households may apply for benefits at any time during the school year. If a household is not currently eligible and if the household size increases or income decreases because of unemployment or other reasons, the family should contact the school to file a new application. Such changes may make the children of the family eligible for free or reduced-price benefits if the family income falls at or below the levels shown above.
